The Museum of Folk Art Geroskipou housed in historic traditional house of the 18th century, the so-called House of Hadjismith.

The visitors of the Museum of Folk Art, takes a clear picture of how it used to be living on an old village in Cyprus.

The "House of Hadjismith" is a big traditional mansion was originally a complex of buildings higher than the existing. Preserved and restored by the Goverment Department, and since 1978 serves as Folk Art Museum. It houses a large collection of traditional items from all over Cyprus and mainly from Paphos. Through these objects reflect the daily life, the agricultural occupations and traditional occupations, and various forms of folk art in Cyprus during the Turkish occupation and even up to half of the 20th century.

Folkloric Museum geroskipou

Certain areas of the house are structured to resemble the classic components of a traditional homestead. In other places shows the traditional craft and professional occupations, and some traditions. Thus, items not listed simply as exhibits, but attempts to join in context and to be understood by the visitor.


In one area of the museum there are agricultural items. The backpack in the old days was a useful item to put on the donkeys.
